Find a PAH Specialist
Because PAH is a complex and rare condition, finding a PAH specialist can help you get the care and treatment information you need. The Pulmonary Hypertension Association recommends finding a specialist who devotes their practice to PAH because they have experience diagnosing the disease and treating it with all of the available therapies.
Some patients may work with a PAH specialist on a regular basis. If you do not, it is still important to have a consultation with a PAH specialist to help you better understand your condition and all of your treatment options.
Here are some questions to consider when choosing a specialist:
- When did they begin caring for PAH patients?
- What percentage of their patients has PAH?
- Do they have experience prescribing all types of medications and administration options (tablet, inhaled, and pump) for treating their patients?
- Do they have a dedicated PAH nurse or PAH coordinator?
